about the program

about the james river buffer program

The James River Buffer Program was launched in 2019 in the Middle James by the James River Association and the Virginia Department of Forestry. In 2021, the program was expanded to the Upper James in partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The James River Buffer Program provides technical and financial support for landowners throughout the Upper and Middle James to restore or create forest buffers that improve the quality of our local
waterways.
